An excellent gastro pub is within walking distance and there is a local taxi service that operates from Barrasford if you want to go further afield. Please call Liz or Alan at A2B taxis. The Barrasford Arms Our nearest pub is situated in the village of Barrasford. This gastro pub is a 40 minute walk from the hut and offers an excellent selection of tasty meals. The pub is closed on a Monday and does not serve food on a Sunday night.

The Crown Inn, Humshaugh is about a fifteen minute drive. Good quality pub grub is served every day. Website: Tel: 01434 681231.

Corbridge: The village of Corbridge is a twenty minute drive. You will find several good pubs that all serve food as well as a range of coffee shops. There is also a good Chinese Takeaway – The Amber Chinese Takeaway. It is open from Wednesday – Sunday from 4.30pm – 9.30 pm. Tel: 01434 633299.

Hexham: The town of Hexham is a twenty minute drive away and also has a variety of restaurants including Indian and Italian restaurants.

‘Posh nosh. If you really want to push the boat out, there are some excellent restaurants in the area:

  • There is also a restaurant called Pine at Vallum Farm. Website: Tel:01434 671202 - a twenty minute drive along the Military Road (B6318) that takes you along the route of Hadrian’s Wall towards Newcastle.

The Riverside Kitchen: This is owned by Trudie – part of the Lishman family, and who also designed the interior of the hut. The coffee shop sells fantastic light lunches, including homemade pies and quiches as well as delicious tray bakes and puddings! It is situated three miles away at Chollerford. Website:
